Over the past few days, the Narcotics Control Bureau (BNC) has received heavy criticism from political leaders and sections of social media for its investigation and handling of the drug raid case involving Aryan Khan. There have been allegations against the agency of being politically influenced, but the agency continues to maintain that it is a transparent body and that it works in the best interests of nations.
An NCB official spoke to ETimes on condition of anonymity and said: The criticism only strengthens us in our work towards our goal of cleaning up drugs from the country. While the critics were busy making allegations, we were running an operation in which we recovered drugs worth 1 crore rupees.
Yesterday it was revealed that Aryan had a special counseling session as part of the NCB where the star kid reportedly said he would work for the welfare of the poor and never do anything who can smear his name in the future. A PTI report quoted Aryan as saying, I will do something that will make you proud of me, NCB officials. The NCB official ETimes spoke to downplayed this incident and said such counseling sessions were the norm. The officer said: We are responding to their criticism by eliminating the drug threat. BCN continues to conduct raids and operations to catch drug traffickers and we have counselors for everyone who is caught up in a drug case. Why do people make a lot of fuss about Aryan advice? It is a norm in such cases. Aryan Khan and other defendants in the drug case await the Mumbai court hearing on October 20 which will issue the final order on their bail application.
