DELTA State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Thursday presented a budget of N 469.5 billion for fiscal year 2022 to the State Assembly House.

He took the opportunity to berate the opposition All Progressives Congress for its lack of budgeting knowledge.

Okowa said so shortly after presenting the 2022 supply budget to lawmakers.

The APC Delta State Chapter had accused Governor Okowa of using the 2021 Supplementary Budget and the 2022 Appropriation Bill as a means of siphoning off state funds.

In response, the governor said, “For once, I expect APC management to recognize that there is a lot of development in the state.

“They don’t want to accept this and I don’t want to criticize what they are doing at the federal level. I try not to do this because I am focusing on what I can do to impact the lives of the Deltans.

“APC knows their life has been affected as well, but they don’t want to because they have a bad spirit.

“At first, I won’t blame them for not understanding the budgeting issues.

“If you understand the stakes of budgeting, you will realize that over the course of a year of implementing a budget, there are so many depressions that occur.”

In the budget he dubbed the Inclusive Growth and Accelerated Development Budget, the governor said the bill was made up of 284.14 billion naira for capital spending and 185.36 billion naira. naira for recurring expenses.

He said capital expenditure represented 60.5% of the budget while 39.5% represented recurrent expenditure, and explained that allocations were targeted on the completion of all ongoing projects and new projects in future. critical areas.

The 2022 budget is 85.5 billion naira higher than the revised approved budget of 383.95 billion naira for 2021.
