ABUJA- The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, tasked political parties involved in the upcoming governorate elections in Anambra state to focus on campaigns, saying they should focus more on thematic campaigns instead. than to dwell on frivolous claims.

The Nigerian opposition political party group, in a statement released by spokesperson Ikenga Ugochinyere on Friday, called the allegation baseless.

“The attention of the Coalition of United Political Parties has been drawn to the

alleged $ 4 million bribe against senior INEC and political party officials

involved in the election.

“Using its vast network of research and verification of information, the Coalition has, after any investigation, reached the unassailable conclusion that the allegations are false.

and a product of the imagination of the elements that spread the news, ”the statement said.

The group said: “If this news had contained even the smallest atom of truth, Nigerians would have been sure that the CUPP would not rest until the agent (s) involved were punished and the right things had been done. “.

“It is in this context that we call on the 18 political parties involved in the election to focus on their campaigns on the main issues that concern the people of Anambra and to leave futile allegations against the commission so that it can

do its job of conducting a free and fair election where Ndi Anambra’s votes count, ”added the CUPP.

According to the group, “all eyes should be on INEC to make sure the right things are done, but the spread of fake news and false allegations are not allowed in the game.”

“When the CUPP makes allegations against officials, it is only because they are true and factual,” he added.

The statement further said: “In recent weeks there have been allegations and counter-allegations from at least two political parties, each accusing the other of compromising INEC. These types of accusations have become commonplace every time there is an election.

“The CUPP notes that recently in Edo, just before the gubernatorial elections, the same counterclaims were made, but the election turned out to be one of the best in recent history with the

deployment of sophisticated technology that thwarted the rigged plots of political actors.

“This pattern of distraction must stop because it tends to denigrate the integrity of elections, however clean they are, and dampen staff morale.

and ad hoc staff, who put lives on the line to ensure that this constitutional process runs smoothly.

“It is in the light of the above that we call on all the security agencies involved in the electoral process to be at the top of their game and not to participate in any action contrary to the freedom and equity of the election, but rather to guarantee safety and security. voters, officials, observers and even anyone in Anambra State for electoral missions.
