UFC’s Dana White and Junior dos Santos

Dana White responded after former UFC Junior heavyweight champion dos Santos criticized the promotion for being unprofessional.

Dos Santos (21-9 MMA) was cut by the Ultimate Fighting Championship shortly after his TKO loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC 256. The setback marked the Brazilians fourth in a row, with all four losses by Technical knockout.

Despite his recent difficult stint, the news of his release came as a big surprise to Junior dos Santos who shared the following reaction.

“The UFC hasn’t even spoken to me. For example, Dana White, I haven’t spoken to her in years. Don’t ask or know anything. They didn’t even speak to me. (They) texted Dan (Lambert) from American Top Team, and I understood their decision was to release me from my contract, ”Dos Santos told MMAFighting.com.

“I reacted with surprise. I was a little impressed with the coldness of the way they handled the case. I know it’s a business, (but) they don’t care. The story we made there and everything else, the dedication and the way it always turned out, has been totally ignored. They were really unprofessional, let’s put it that way, with the way they (me) treated, like they (treat) everyone. I was not the first and I will not be the last. The last two fights I had were over those words, ‘Take it or you’re out.’ “

UFC President Dana White

Dana White clearly took note of JDS ‘comments and responded with the following explanation during an interview with TSN.

“So Junior dos Santos said the other day that, you know, he was upset and that I was all about the money and the way he left. Look, how old is he? mean he’s in his 40s now. He was on a four or five game losing streak and there comes a time and a day when I have to make a decision when a guy keeps losing and he’s a certain age ” Dana White explained, “This isn’t the place to be anymore. There are tons of other places you can go and fight and you can make a lot of money. A lot of these guys, you know, once they build and establish their name here, move on to these other promotions and make some crazy money. And, uh, good for them. That’s just how it works.

Junior dos Santos seems to be doing well in his post-UFC career. The former “baddest man on the planet” currently plays for AEW in the professional wrestling world.
