A new set of Valorant Ranked Changes comes in patch 3.10, reducing five stacks to all ranks while removing four stacks to improve the “single player experience”. The “spicy” changes have been met with skepticism, but Riot is confident it will work.
After Riot capped the size of Valorant’s ranked queue at higher ranks in February 2021 – and put in a number of other restrictions – players were happy, for the most part.
However, during a backflip during the launch of Episode 3 of Act 3, Riot somewhat rolled back the changes to the ranked queues 10 months ago.
In Valorant patch 3.10, which is slated to launch on November 16, the five-stack premades will return to all ranks after months of promises.
It drew a lot of criticism online, but developer Jon ‘EvrMoar’ Walker promised gamers that it would be a better experience for all gamers.
Riot Games You will be able to stack five with all of your Valorant friends with patch 3.10.
“We made this change because the community wanted it and we felt we could make it work with ranked queue goals,” EvrMoar explained.
All five stacks are back, but all four stacks will be banned from all ranks. This means that players in solo queue cannot be chosen by their predefined teammates.
On top of that, at Diamond level 3 and above, pre-made five-stack groups will only match other five-stack – and they’ll earn RP at a slower rate.
“There will be extremely severe penalties if you are in a squad and you will gain or lose a lot less RR for a win or a loss,” said EvrMoar.
“There will most likely be an increase in the waiting time for these players as well. So technically you rank lower and wait longer to play matches, versus five other stacks. It’s not the most efficient way to climb, it’s there for players who want to play with friends.
5 STACK WITH EVERYBODY, ANY ROW. If you are not in a stack of 5, normal ranking rules apply. Scheduled for 3.1
Shoot down some misinformation: you can’t stack 3 stacks in Diamond3 + RR cuts are extremely hard for Diamond3 + Diamond3 + will only play against 5 stacks pic.twitter.com/iwZNrt9Sxg

EvrMoar also claimed that removing the four-way stack “should dramatically increase the solo experience,” but Riot is keeping an eye on community sentiment in the weeks to come.
“I want to call, we know it’s a spicy change. We will monitor the exploits, the way they are received and if it just doesn’t work, we will change it. “
