Liverpool have closed their investigation into allegations that a fan spat on Manchester City’s coaching staff during their draw at Anfield last month.
Two fans were found to behave aggressively after Phil Foden scored City’s first equalizer.
But after taking witness statements and studying video footage, Liverpool could not find any evidence to show that a spitting incident had taken place.
Two fans were seen screaming and gesturing at Pep Guardiola’s staff.
They have now been moved to seats away from the canoe area and received a letter warning them of their future behavior.
A Liverpool spokesperson said: “We have now completed a full and thorough investigation following a complaint about an alleged incident near the dugout area during our match against Manchester City at Anfield last month.
“The evidence gathered was substantial and included statements from Manchester City backroom staff, supporters, stewards, unredacted video footage and CCTV tapes.
“We followed the club’s official sanctioning procedures and appropriate action was taken based on the evidence gathered and information received from the complainant.
“We would like to thank all parties who supported this investigation and now consider this matter closed. ”
