MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Dane Co. sheriff’s office has completed its part of the investigation into the alleged sexual intercourse of a Madison Police Department lieutenant inside a police car, has confirmed Thursday a spokesperson for the agency.
Public Information Officer Elise Schaffer confirmed Thursday that the role of the sheriff’s office has ended, but she was unable to provide details of what investigators have determined.
The MPD’s investigation into the lieutenant’s behavior is continuing, the department told NBC15 News, following the sheriff’s office update. His public affairs office added that he was still on administrative leave and was unable to give a timeline on the end of his investigation.
The investigation was launched in mid-September after a video began circulating online showing the lieutenant engaging in sexual activity in the vehicle with another person. Throughout the investigation, MPD has been discreet about its findings; however, Chief Shon Barnes dispelled rumors that the other person in the vehicle was a sex worker.
