It’s been a busy week for Adele, with the release of her first single in six years and back-to-back interviews with British Vogue, US Vogue and Rolling Stone. And now, in a revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey, the record-breaking singer spoke about the attention she has received since returning – especially criticism of her 100-pound weight loss.
In her transatlantic cover star interview with Vogue last month, Adele took a deep dive into her divorce and how she had transformed her body and her sanity by training up to three times a day. After the interview, her exercise routine was called “way too much” by some health experts, which the 33-year-old singer disagrees with.
‘I [wasn’t] shocked or even phased by this – my body has been objectified my entire career. Am I too tall or am I too short, am I hot or not or anything – I have never admired anyone because of their body, ” Adele said of the reaction to her loss weight in his interview with Oprah. “I was positive for the body then and I am positive for the body now,” she added. “It’s not my job to validate what people think about their bodies. I feel bad that it made someone feel bad about themselves, but it’s not my job.
As for what inspired her fitness journey, the singer reiterated that she always focuses on her mental health, not weight loss. ‘[Working out] mainly concerned my anxiety. I had the most terrifying anxiety attacks after leaving my marriage – it made me so confused and made me feel like I had no control over my body, ”she said. .
“I noticed how much I trusted my trainer’s presence when I felt so lost, but I had no anxiety when I was in the gym,” the Easy On Me singer added. It became my time – I had a plan every day when I didn’t have one. “
She also pointed out how focusing on her health has helped her through her divorce from her eight-year-old partner, Simon Konecki. “Once I realized I had a lot of work to do on myself I quit drinking and started working out a lot and stuff like that to kind of keep me centered. “she said. Previously, Adele had revealed that she was forced to stop drinking to prepare her voice for her musical comeback.
