As the West Bengal Assembly passed the resolution against central government extending BSF jurisdiction, chaos ensued in the assembly with TMC leader Udayan Guha raising his eyebrows as a controversial remark against the armed forces in the house.

Trinamool Congress leader Udayan Guha was criticized Tuesday by the BJP opposition for making “inappropriate comments” about the conduct of BSF staff. In a shocking statement, the TMC MP claimed that armed forces personnel harass women under the guise of security checks.

TMC chief alleges BSF staff inappropriately touch women during checks

As reported by the PTI news agency, Guha accused army officers of inappropriately touching women while entering border areas in the name of security checks. “A child living in a border area can never be a patriot if he sees his mother being inappropriately touched in the body search costume by the BSF,” said TMC chief Guha.

Responding to the allegations of the Member of Parliament for Trinamool, the OSB dismissed the allegations made against the conduct of the security personnel as being without merit and stated that “BSF is a professional force and has always performed the mandated functions by respecting the rules and regulations. BSF Mahila Prahari is the one who searches the females. Allegations that BSF staff inappropriately touched women are completely unfounded. “

The controversial remark had upset some BJP leaders in the chamber, as it was greeted with indignation by BJP MPs, who called on the speaker to be struck off.

The language used against a force like the BSF, according to opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari, is absolutely unacceptable. “When the Union government tries to withdraw the central forces from Junglemahal, it is the state government that opposes it. And now the same government opposes BSF’s activities. By virtue of this new rule (extension of jurisdiction), there is no question of conflict between the state police and the BSF, ”said Adhikari, as reported by the PTI.

West Bengal Assembly adopts resolution against extension of BSF jurisdiction

The West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday adopted the resolution against center validation to allow border security forces to search up to 50 km from the international border in Assam, West Bengal and Punjab without obtaining the required permission from central or state government officials. West Bengal became the second state after Punjab where such a resolution was tabled and adopted.

The resolution was proposed by State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee.
