Oyetola’s aide attacks Aregbesola loyalists over assassination claim – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s chief press secretary Ismail Omipidan lambasted former Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s loyalists over alleged plot to assassinate their members by the state governor .

The All Progresive Congress (APC) splinter group ‘The Osun Progressive (TOP) had alleged that a group led by Governor Oyetola, Ilerioluwa, planned to eliminate its leaders.

A statement from TOP President Adelowo Adebiyi said that “the level of desperation of the Ilerioluwa group led by Governor Oyetola has reached the throats of its leaders and therefore concluded that the elimination of TOP leaders would put an end to our opposition to them ”.

Reacting to the allegation, Omipidan in a statement Tuesday described Adebiyi as a “self-proclaimed leader”, saying the statement attributed to him is malicious and wickedly calculated to tarnish Governor Oyetola’s good reputation.

The governor’s assistant said that “everyone behind the malicious and unsupervised statement had to undergo a thorough head exam to check their mental state.

He urged Adebiyi and his fellow travelers to keep former House Deputy Speaker Lasun Yusuff out of their underhanded plot, adding that Lasun’s statement, as widely reported in the media Monday and Tuesday is a clear indication that he doesn’t share the same thought with them.

Omipidan said that “only an unstable mind and character would accuse a person of the rank of governor, who over the past three years has done nothing to portray him as a man of violence or the government he heads, of assassination plot.

He alleged that Adebiyi was among those who led thugs to attack APC members on August 14 this year at the State Party Secretariat where people were injured.

He added: “The case was reported to the police station by the party’s acting chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, arrests were made and they were duly brought to justice before a magistrate. It took the intervention of Mr. Governor to rescue him and his traveling companions.

“How can such a man who is known to have been associated with violence in the past accuse my principal who has even been described by prominent TOP member Temitope Mustapha on air today (Tuesday) during of a live radio show like a decent gentleman full of violence ?, asked Omipidan.
