Newsom is not doing its job
We should be grateful that Governor Newsom is solely responsible for running the most populous state in the Union with the equivalent of the fifth largest economy in the world (as he is quick to remind us), rather than to serve in our army or as a first responder. We don’t have to ask these people if they’d rather be home with the kids on Halloween or do their jobs. Let’s just hope the next state crisis on the governor’s “damn treadmill” doesn’t assail us on Valentine’s Day.
Governor, to quote the great statesman, Super Chicken, “You knew the job was dangerous when you took it on. “
Maybe the next world climate summit could be held at the French Laundry, so it is more convenient for our governor to attend, whatever it is.

Blaming Biden is wrong
Re: November 13 letter from Vince Minkel, “Biden is a socialist president”:
Mr. Minkel asserts that the United States is “no longer the leader that can be counted on to maintain peace and stability in the world”. When did we become the world police? The war in Afghanistan was costing us billions of dollars and lives lost. What exactly did this war accomplish? Does Mr. Minkel remember which president started this invasion? And which president negotiated the timing of the withdrawal? So all of these things have happened in the 10 months that Biden has been in power?
Isn’t the pandemic, which occurred as a result of the previous president’s negligence, to blame? Trump was warned in writing by Peter Navarro in January 2020 of the pandemic and ignored him. Watch the “60 Minutes” report on this subject and convince yourself. Biden pulled us out of Afghanistan and faced the inflationary impact of the virus as well as the climate situation and the rebuilding of the country’s infrastructure.
The average price of gas in May 2020 was $ 3.47; in November 2021, it is $ 3.44. If Mr Minkel doesn’t want to pay for gasoline, he should consider an electric vehicle. I haven’t been to a gas station this year. US oil production has plummeted due to weak demand in the US due to the virus. There is still this pesky virus, which started under the previous president.
If Mr Minkel is so anti-socialist, does that mean he won’t ask for social security?

Schools must clear up the confusion
Re: your Nov 6 story, “The teacher is no longer at the Ventura school after comments hit the news”:
The Ventura College teacher was replaced for presenting students with false information about the 2000 US presidential election, claiming that Donald Trump was still President of the United States.
If school officials did not present students with the exact election results in writing, they did not properly take acceptable corrective action. What did officials of the Ventura Unified School District communicate, in writing, to the parents of students affected by this misinformation?
