Criticism of Myles Garrett’s coach sparks shocking reaction from defensive coordinator

In week 10, the Cleveland Browns were wiped out by the New England Patriots. After that game, Myles Garrett expressed his criticism of the coaching staff. Joe Woods, the defensive coordinator, responded to Garrett on Thursday.

According to Jake Trotter, Woods says “I don’t really mind that stuff,” regarding Myles Garrett criticizing the Browns coaching staff. Additionally, Joe Woods continues, as he “points out that Browns forced a three-and-out immediately after half-time.”

Although the Browns defensive coordinator points out the three-and-out stoppage after halftime, the rest of the game for Cleveland was excruciating. Myles Garrett had every right to criticize the technical staff.

The Browns lost to the Patriots 45-7. It was an embarrassing game for the franchise. Choosing to focus on a particular game during a resounding loss is not the best look of the coaching staff. It was time for Joe Woods to admit his faults, thank Myles Garrett for being a leader and start a fire under the defensive unit to take on the Detroit Lions.

Even so, according to Sports Illustrated, “despite these public criticisms, Woods says he and Garrett still have a strong relationship.” At the very least, the relationship between Garrett and the Browns coaching staff doesn’t seem to get in the way. It’s a good sign for Cleveland.

It is important that players and coaches hold each other accountable. For now, the Browns are looking to move on after their Week 10 win as they aim to bounce back from the winless Lions.

We’ll see how that plays out, as the Browns should be able to grab a win on Sunday. However, looking at how this season unfolds, Cleveland could be very upset if he’s not careful.
