Noah Syndergaard shoots Mike Francesa for criticism

Noah Syndergaard’s departure from the New York Mets is not a friendly one.

Syndergaard has been the subject of discussions in New York after his decision to sign a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels. Syndergaard was once considered a long-term ace for the Mets, but has barely played since 2019 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

That sentiment was echoed by iconic New York radio host Mike Francesa, who tweeted Friday that the Mets were “better off” without Syndergaard and hadn’t had it in years. Syndergaard took note of this comment and retaliated with its own burn.

Damn, I didn’t know you were still alive. Congratulation.

In Syndergaard’s defense, it’s not entirely his fault that his Mets career went the way it did. When he was in good health he was exceptional. Unfortunately, this did not happen often enough. He was a non-factor in 2020 and 2021 and also missed most of the 2017 season.

Francesa is right too. Considering this history of injuries, it would have been no use for the Mets to lean on Syndergaard, and it certainly looks like the Mets felt that way. Still, Francesa makes herself an easy target at times, and the former Mets pitcher is happy to get her shots.
