KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR) – Police have arrested two men here for allegedly raping a woman and giving her a drink at a city entertainment venue.

Kamaruzaman Elias, deputy deputy head of communications at the Kuala Lumpur CID, said the two men in their 30s surrendered to the Putra Heights police station around 6 p.m. on Saturday.

“We are still in the process of further investigating the case,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Police were previously reported to be looking for two men in connection with the alleged rape.

ACP Kamaruzaman had said a police report was filed by the victim at 8:06 p.m. Thursday, claiming that she was raped by two unknown men.

“Based on the report, the 19-year-old victim alleged that she and a few friends were heading to a club around 9pm on Wednesday. The victim was intoxicated after his drink was fortified with drugs, ”he said in a statement.

The victim and her friend were then taken to a hotel in the city by the two suspects, he added.

“She only realized that she had been raped after being informed by her friend,” he said.

He reminded people not to speculate on the case or release unverified information as it could disrupt the ongoing investigation and cause public distress.

Meanwhile, a person believed to be the victim’s friend shared a timeline of the incident along with photos of the suspects on social media.
