Following the recent allegation by the state government of Imo on the former state governor, Rochas Okorocha, of being behind the challenge of insecurity in the state, the former governor asked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct an appropriate investigation to determine the veracity of his request.
Okorocha reacting to the allegation in a statement he released through his special media advisor Sam Onwuemeodo explained that he had only asked the Senate to intervene in the insecurity in the state only out of patriotic concern that had governed him for 8 years.
He said: “Okorocha had requested the intervention of the Senate and other relevant bodies and individuals, all with the aim of seeing how to end the lingering security problem in Imo.
Okorocha said he expected praise rather than the allegation being made against him.
“We expected that the governor of Imo, or even congratulate Okorocha on having drawn the attention of the Red Chamber of the National Assembly to what is happening in Imo, in terms of security challenges.
“Instead of taking this route, the governor of the Ilo decided to take the route of abuse and propaganda against his senator brother, who had ruled the state before him and who is also the senator for his zone. He should have collaborated with Okorochas’ fresh ideas on the Senate floor, on how to solve IMO’s security problem.
“The good news is that Nigerians in general and the Imo in particular know about Okorocha and its history. It has a history of peace, harmony and unity. The story of raising life and building the nation. The history of tolerance. He has Conviviality as a guide or principle. Okorocha loves peace and also pursues peace vigorously. said Onwuemeodo.
He continued, “We would prefer to urge the governor of Imo to consider every man and woman in Imo as a stakeholder in the Imo project. And take everyone on to see how best to lift the long-known peaceful state out of the current quagmire.
“That’s not what Imo was known for. And all hands have to be on the bridge to solve the problem. It doesn’t require muscle flexing. Or push me, I’ll push you.
“Having said all this, we sincerely request that the Inspector General of Police and other relevant security agencies investigate the Imo governor’s accusation against Okorocha, with the aim of finding out the truth or not about this accusation. expensive. We would also be delighted to see the outcome of their findings made public in due course.
