PML-N, PPP Swap Blame Over Alleged Bribes to NA-133 Voters

The PML-N alleges that the PPP demanded sworn testimony from voters in exchange for 2,000 rupees. PPP condemns the decision and denies any involvement. The Lahore seat has become vacant due to the death of PML-N MP Pervaiz Malik.

The vote war between the PML-N and the PPP in Lahore’s NA-133, where a by-election is slated for December 5, has overtaken the constituency to take to social media, where a viral video appears to show voters bribed by party members.

Both sides blamed each other’s workers for the alleged move.

Muhammad Arif of the PML-N filed a complaint with the Pakistan Election Commission, saying the PPP is “buying back votes in the constituency”.

Arif alleged that the PPP collects sworn testimony from “bought” voters and distributes 2,000 rupees per person.

Meanwhile, PPP Punjab Information Secretary Shahzad Cheema noted that such videos are circulating on social media, claiming that “the clips are being made viral by both parties.”

He claimed that his party had given no instructions to anyone to donate money to an entity.

“If this has happened at any level, the PPP strongly condemns the act,” he said.

Cheema said the videos were a “ploy” to ruin the elections.

Meanwhile, PTI Senator Ejaz Chaudhary also shared a video on Twitter, with the caption reading: “The real face of PML-N has been revealed.”

According to Chaudhary, in the video, female voters are paid for their votes and sworn testimony is obtained from them.

“This is why they are against EVMs (electronic voting machines),” he wrote.
