Chip shortage to blame for declining Black Friday online sales

[ad_1]

Famous Black Friday sales last week saw online shopping drop to $ 8.9 billion this year, below the $ 9 billion spent by online consumers last year, and the current chip shortage. is one of the main reasons for this situation.

According to Adobe Analytics, out-of-stock messages have increased 124% since January of last year, making it more difficult for buyers to get the products they want as the world is facing a severe component shortage and supply chain problems.

Home appliances and electronics have been hit the hardest by the chip shortage.

According to an Adobe Analytics holiday shopping report, the downtrend may have been caused by a slight increase in upfront spending, as some stores started sales and promotions as early as October.

When shoppers shopped online during Black Friday, Adobe found that 44.4% of those sales were made from a smartphone, a 10.6% increase from last year, reports The Verge.

“For the first time ever, Black Friday saw a reversal of the growth trend of years past,” said Vivek Pandya, senior analyst at Adobe Digital Insights.

“Buyers are strategic in their gift purchases, buy much earlier in the season, and are flexible about when to shop to ensure they get the best deals,” he added.

Among the most popular tech products sold on Black Friday were the Nintendo Switch and Meta (formerly Oculus) Quest 2. SEE ALSO:
