“Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, this stipulation does not constitute, and should not be interpreted as, an admission that the defendant, the architect or any of the current or former employees or agents of the architect has violated. any of the claimant’s rights or any law or regulation, or as an admission of any disputed fact alleged by the claimant in connection with this matter or otherwise, ”notes the agreement.
The settlement marks the culmination of a legal process that began in 2019 when Green filed the complaint.
Since being hired to work in the jurisdiction of the Capitol Power Plant agency in 2015, Green has alleged that he was discriminated against on the basis of his race, described as “lazy” and that he received racial insults against him. When Green complained about the conduct of his colleagues, the agency hit back at him and failed to take swift action, according to the lawsuit.
Victor Shaw, who was then Green’s supervisor, and three mechanics Quinton Coleman, Dana Spencer and David Barletta referred to Green as ***** when speaking with other agency employees, according to the lawsuit. Coleman is black and the other three are white.
In May 2019, Green was assigned to inspect the power plant ladders and found a noose hanging from one of them. Green showed the noose to Randy Charity, a black supervisor, who photographed it on his phone. Spencer knew that Green was assigned to this particular inspection and was the person who put the noose in it, according to the lawsuit.
