Oregon’s Mario Cristobal suggests media to blame for Miami rumors

Oregon football coach Mario Cristobal is reportedly targeted by Miami to be their next head coach as the Hurricanes appear to end the Manny Diaz era.

Miami appears to be the next team to recruit after Lincoln Riley left Oklahoma for USC and Brian Kelly left Notre Dame for LSU. Cristobal was asked about rumors linking him to coaching the Hurricanes after the Ducks lost in the Pac-12 Championship game against Utah.

“When you say someone’s offer, I haven’t spoken to anyone,” Cristobal said, via 247 Sports on Friday night. “Let’s not create stories while we’re at this press conference. Oregon is working on things for me and that’s what I have right now.”

Cristobal came to a halt by completely denying that he was leaving Oregon. He was asked what he would tell fans about the rumors going around.

“I would say if there is anything to report, I would report it,” he said. “I’ve always done that over the years. I think because some things or certain things actually get on the air or not, every year all of our staff, whether it’s backstage, in public or not, we always have had people after our people, including myself. How the media treats it, how the media presents it, I have no control over it. “

Cristobal missed the opportunity to “signal” that he was going to stay with the Ducks and now has the opportunity to follow the same path as Riley and Kelly last week.

Riley was adamant when he said he wasn’t going to take the LSU job instead of saying he was going to stay with Oklahoma. Kelly praised Mike Tomlin for denying rumors about work ties at USC and said “no” when asked if he was going to coach another team. Kelly then took the concert from LSU.
