Actor Jeff Garlin says he was not fired from his role on the hit sitcom “The Goldbergs” – although he admitted to being the subject of multiple HR inquiries into his behavior on the tray.
“No, I wasn’t fired from the Goldbergs. I wasn’t fired from the Goldbergs, ”Garlin, who plays disgruntled Patriarch Murray Christian Goldberg on the ABC sitcom, told Vanity Fair in an interview released Friday.
Garlin, 59, said he had been investigated by the human resources department in each of the past three years because of things he said on set, which he called Stupid, misunderstood jokes that have rubbed some of the cast and crew the wrong way. .
“It’s always the same. It’s about me and my silliness on set. They don’t think it’s appropriate. I do. That’s where we are. I haven’t. got fired because of that. We just think differently, “he said in the interview.
In 2019, Garlin said he was almost fired because of inappropriate language he used on set. “I was saying some really stupid and stupid things that I can’t believe anyone would find offensive but to each their own,” he told the Post at the time.

The upsetting language and demeanor on set seems to have persisted ever since, with cast and crew members telling Vanity Fair that Garlin’s language on set was demeaning. Others said they were made uncomfortable by the actor’s hug.
“I have to be honest with you. I don’t even know how to respond to that because as a comedian if anyone is offended by what I’m saying all I can say is I’m sorry. OK? I have never approached anyone physically, for any reason, so I find it terribly confusing and wrong, ”he told the magazine, claiming that he thought“ whoever feels this is has for me ”.
Responding to the hugging allegations, Garlin said he is “a person who cuddles for sure.”

“And those are quick hugs, but I didn’t know anyone was feeling – so if you want to write this story, it’s a true story. It’s up to them to say something, and I would gladly respect anyone who said,” Please don’t give me a hug, I don’t feel comfortable.
He said he didn’t plan on hugging anyone on set again.
Garlin said he has never had a problem with a negative experience with the cast and crew of any production outside of “The Goldbergs”, comparing it to his time on set with “Curb Your Enthusiasm” of HBO, in which he stars and co-produced with Larry David.
“Now when I’m at Curb Your Enthusiasm, for example, if I don’t do the things we’re talking about, Larry David – or a cameraman, the producer, who is female – a lot of people come up to me and ask me if I’m fine. I have to do what I have to do to keep my energy up and do what I’m doing. So I don’t know what to say.
The actor said there are about seven or eight filming episodes left in the ninth season of “The Goldbergs”. He added that he had a “hunch” that the series would not return next year.
