Jake Paul confirms Tommy Fury withdrew from December fight

Jake Paul claims that it is “very possible” that Tyson Fury accidentally injured his brother Tommy during training.

The young British star was forced to withdraw from his fight with Paul due to a broken rib and a long-term lung infection during training camp.

Fury was training with his heavyweight champion brother Tyson who tested him to prepare him for the biggest fight of his career.

Paul believes the exercises Fury participated in could have caused the injury and revealed that he took precautions with his own abdominal work during training camp.

“I’ve seen the footage and who knows it’s very possible,” Paul told MMA Hour when asked if training could have caused Fury’s injury.

“It is very possible that it could break a rib for sure, when I do this exercise we take precaution and be careful because you hear stories of fighters getting injured trying to work their abs.

“Who knows what happened, but it all sounds very fishy.”

Paul initially posted the news on his social media and called his rival a “b ****” after being disappointed that he missed the opportunity to settle his rivalry with the British star.

The pair had argued since their altercation over the Cleveland card with the headliner Paul’s clash against Tyron Woodley, where Fury also fought Anthony Taylor on the undercard.

Fury released a statement after his withdrawal, citing injury as the main reason he was unable to compete later this month.

He said on Instagram: “Four weeks ago we decided to have a savings session and I took a little clip on the body and because my body was so weak from the virus I knew something was wrong right away.

“I was throwing up from the pain, I was doubled over. I literally took my bag and went straight to the hospital for an MRI and got the results the same day.

“Even now, the fact that I’m not fighting hasn’t faded. My only goal is to set a new fight date and recover.

An alternate opponent has now been arranged for Paul, with Woodley set to step aside for a second meeting on December 18.

After Fury’s withdrawal, the YouTube star admitted he was willing to make his rival wait “years” to reschedule their grudge match.

Fury is likely to face an extended spell on the sidelines, with his medic fearing he will be out of the ring for a long time.
