Following allegations of corruption, Pl Vlner resigned his post as Secretary of State for Justice despite his innocence, Telex reported.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Attorney General initiated the suspension of the immunity of the Fidesz legislator and State Secretary for Justice, working under the leadership of Justice Minister Judit Varga.
Vlner is accused of having received sums of between 5,400 and 13,600 (2 to 5 million HUF) in exchange for the examination of specific cases presented by the president of the Hungarian chamber of judicial officers who executes the requests listed in court decisions.
The case currently concerns twelve suspects, eight bailiffs and one deputy.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the bailiffs interviewed by Telex said they were surprised and said they did not know exactly who was targeted by the arrest and why.
In a statement to local media, the politician denied committing a crime but accepted the political consequences of the case, resigning from his post. Vlner has been a Member of Parliament since 2010.
The last time Vlner became the center of public attention was in connection with the Pegasus surveillance scandal, when Varga told Telex that the Secretary of State was responsible for authorizing covert surveillance, not she.
In response to the scandal, the opposition also asked Varga to step down following the Orbn government’s most serious corruption scandal.
