Charles Barkley knows exactly who to blame for the Lakers’ struggles: Anthony Davis.
Listen, Russ [Westbrook] is learning. Frank Vogel is a terrific coach, ”Barkley said on“ Inside the NBA ”on Tuesday. “Round up all the old assholes and try to blame the others, that’s not right and that’s not cool. Listen, Anthony Davis, you gotta play better.
The Lakers beat the Celtics on Tuesday night to move to 13-12, and Davis is averaging 24.1 points, 10.3 points with 52.4 percent from the field. The point mentioned by the TNT team: its score of 18.8% on a range of 3 points.
“He doesn’t respect his market,” former Lakers great Shaquille O’Neal said, agreeing with Barkley. “If you shoot so poorly from the 3-point line, that tells me one thing. Put your ass in the positions you belong to.
While Vogel and Westbrook took to the heat for the Lakers’ woes, Barkley said the blame should fall on Davis, 27, due to his relative youth.
In his first year with the Lakers, Westbrook struggled to make the same impact as in other saves, shooting 45 percent from the field and averaging 20.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists. LeBron James also missed time with injuries and took a false positive COVID-19 test last week.
Davis, now in his third year in LA and the youngest of the team’s big three, faces a heavier burden, according to Barkley.

“You’re supposed to be in the prime of your life,” Barkley said. “You’re supposed to be one of the top five players in the world, along with Giannis (Antetokounmpo), Kevin Durant and those guys. You are not respecting your end of the bargain. So now I hear you all gonna shoot [Vogel]. This is total BS, man.
