Panaji: Science and Technology Minister Michael Lobo said on Monday that CM Pramod Sawant should investigate allegations of corruption in the recruitment of government jobs, and that he should “investigate in its logical conclusion ”. “Jobs should be awarded purely on the basis of merit. The process of setting up a staff selection committee should be speeded up, ”he said. “As we have a PWD minister, the CM was not directly involved. His involvement is needed now. If this is only an allegation, it must also be authorized by the CM. It’s very important, ”Lobo said. Monserrate alleged that Pauskar asked for 25-30 lakh rupees when recruiting. “It is very important to set up a staff selection committee as quickly as possible, as the former CM Manohar Parrikar envisaged. If I am part of the next government, a personnel selection committee will be set up immediately. Smaller positions can be filled by different departments. The most senior positions should be held by the board, ”said Lobo. “No such margin of allegations should be left in recruitment. Jobs should be awarded solely on merit. A deserving young person should not feel that an injustice should be done to him, ”said Lobo. Meanwhile, BJP chairman Sadanand Shet Tanavade declined to comment on the allegations made by BJP Panaji deputy Atanasio Monserrate against PWD minister Deepak Pauskar. Tanavade said he had not yet been able to discuss the facts with the CM. “I didn’t have time to discuss it with the Chief Minister. I was in Sattari yesterday and the CM was in Salcete. He left today for three days in Varanasi. The matter is within the purview of the government, and before talking about anything related to the government, it is best to find out the facts first. There is no partisan link with the recruitments. I will discuss it with the CM and the deputy who made the allegation, ”said Tanavade.
