After a criminal complaint was filed against actor Deepika Padukone and the producers of the upcoming 83 film, the directors released a clarification on the matter. The complaint was lodged by a UAE-based financier who approached Andheri Metropolitan Court on the grounds of “cheating and criminal conspiracy”. Now a spokesperson for Vishnu Induri (of Vibri Media) has released a statement about it and has called the complaint “false, groundless and substantiated”.

Earlier, while speaking to Republic Media Network, attorney Rizwan Siddiquee, who represents the UAE-based company, mentioned that his client had initiated “strict legal proceedings” because the producers of 83 had not resolved the matter “amicably”. He said: “It is true that my client brought a criminal complaint against all the producers of the film 83 for cheating and criminal association. My client had no choice but to initiate strict legal proceedings, because the producers did seem interested in resolving the dispute amicably, despite full knowledge of my client’s rights. The case would now be heard by the respective courts.
