Tyron Woodley responds to criticism of being shy during fights

Tyron Woodley’s decline can be attributed to a few factors, but one of the most significant is his hesitant nature during combat. He was said to be afraid of spending too much energy and burning out early. It was a problem seen in Jake Paul’s boxing match.

There is obviously some respect for Jake Paul’s punching power as he sent opponents into the Shadow Realm. The point is, Tyron Woodley can pack a punch, too.

“The hindsight is 20/20,” Tyron Woodley told Submission Radio. “I can say I respected him too much, or I can watch Nate Robinson who walked in there and ran in a punch and got smoked, and my teammate Ben Askren did a bit of the same, where his hands weren’t in the right position. If he has the power to punch, it doesn’t matter who it is, like, a lot of people tried to knock out Ben. Robbie Lawler, and all those powerful punchers, and they couldn’t do it with four ounce gloves, so he could have done it with 10 ounce gloves, and you really have to think about it.

“So I’m not saying I was scared. You saw me move forward despite everything. I was touched, I moved forward despite everything. He was missing, cutting my gloves and cutting me, and I was still moving forward. So I wasn’t afraid of being hit. My training partners hit a lot harder and are more skilled than him. But I didn’t want to be reckless. And I think that’s a happy medium, ”said Woodley. “I have to find the line not to cross the line and just be reckless and not have my defense, but also not to be as patient as I was.”

Patience was a negative aspect for Tyron Woodley as it led to the end of the fight and his downfall due to the low volume. He’s assured it won’t be a problem against Jake Paul and he’s looking to prove it in their boxing match on December 18th.
