The organizer of the rally that preceded the Jan.6 attack on Capitol Hill said Donald Trump should ultimately be blamed for the riot.

Dustin Stockton, who was subpoenaed with his wife Jennifer Lawrence by the House committee investigating the January 6 attack, spoke to CNN’s Anderson Cooper shortly after testifying before the panel Tuesday.

Asked by Cooper who should be blamed for the attack on the Capitol, Stockton said “the money has to stop” against the former president.

“I always like to point out that the people who have committed violence, the people who attack the police or disfigure the Capitol, are primarily responsible for their own actions,” said Stockton. “But the money has to end with President Trump.

“He knew better. And there is no excuse for him to send people into this situation without having the logistics, security, stage and sound systems to control the crowd,” Stockton added.

“This thing could have been in place and should have been in place before he sent people over there. And the fact that he took so long to respond, I think, says really bad about his intentions. and what he was doing. “

Trump became the first president in history to be twice impeached after being accused of inciting a riot on Capitol Hill, telling a crowd of his supporters at the January 6 rally: “If you don’t don’t beat like hell, you’re not going to have more countries. “

Elsewhere in the interview, Stockton discussed the House committee’s “astonishing revelations” that a number of Fox News figures and Donald Trump Jr. texted Trump’s former chief of staff, Mark Meadows during the attack to voice concerns about the violence and try to get the president to arrest him.

Fox News’ Sean Hannity messaged Meadows: “Can he make a statement? Ask people to leave the Capitol” as the mess continued. Laura Ingraham texted Meadows saying Trump “has to tell the people on Capitol Hill to come home. It hurts us all. He’s destroying his legacy.”

The former president’s eldest son also urged Meadows to get his father to “condemn this [s**t] ASAP “in the midst of violence.

“They were doing the right thing as and when the going was going, and yet they continued to mis-characterize it afterwards,” Stockton said.

“These texts make it clear that they knew the violence was unacceptable, that it should be condemned in the most serious way possible. And yet they continue to downplay and downplay it.”

Republican Representative Liz Cheney, vice-chair of the Congressional committee investigating the riot, said texts in Meadows show there is “no doubt [that] the White House knew exactly what was happening “on Capitol Hill on January 6 and that Trump” refused to act when our president’s action was required “for more than three hours.

Trump has been contacted for further comment.
