Interim Afenifere leader Ayo Adebanjo has denied the allegation that his house in Lekki was built for him by Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a statement from Adebanjo, former Osun governor Bisi Akande in his recently published autobiography, ‘My Participations’ claimed that he pressured Tinubu to build him a house in Lekki.

But reacting to the claim in a statement Thursday, Adebanjo said he expected Tinubu to refute the “malicious lie about me emanating from his man on Friday” since he was at the book’s launch.

Adebanjo said he built the Lekki house with his resources and a loan from GTBank and the sale of undeveloped land properties.

“I owe myself a duty to set the record straight for posterity on the big lie that Bola Tinubu built my house in Lekki for me. I therefore deny the LIE propagated by Akande, I would like to categorically state that my house in Lekki was built with my resources through the sale of 3 developed properties, a loan from GTBank, and the sale of an undeveloped land property m ‘was given by my late chief Obafemi Awolowo with blessed memory, “said the chief of Afenifere.

He also asked the EFCC to verify the facts set out in the press release with its clarifications.

STATEMENT TO THE PRESS BY CHEF AYO ADEBANJO, LEADER OF AFENIFERE IN RESPONSE TO THE ALLEGATION MADE BY CHEF BISI AKANDE IN HIS BOOK “MY PARTICIPATIONS” TO THE EFFECT THAT CHEF BOLA TINUBU BUILT MY HOUSE IN LEKKI FOR ME , THURSDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2021. ON THE GROUND OF MY HOUSE 25, AYO ADEBANJO CLOSES ADEBAYO DOHERTY STREET, LEKKI PHASE 1, LAGOS STATE.

Gentlemen of the press,

About a week ago, last Thursday December 9 to be exact, during the presentation of the book “MY PARTICIPATION” by Chief Bisi Akande, it was said that Chief Bisi Akande had stated in the book that I had lobbied on Bola Tinubu to build the house for me. But since Bola Tinubu himself was present at the presentation, I expect him to refute such a malicious lie about me in a few days from his Man Friday.

I am of this opinion because Bola Tinubu just 3 years ago on the occasion of the presentation of my autobiography “SAYING IT AS IT IS” that for my incorruptibility and my strength of character, Bola Tinubu would not have been governor of Lagos State in 1999. What could he then demand of me after his two terms as governor to pressure me to build me a house, when I did not get a naira of him before he became governor?

There was a lot of pressure on me not to react to leader Bisi Akande’s tantrums, he’s a neophyte, beneficiary of a fight in which he has never participated. you reduce yourself to his level, but there is also a saying that goes, “Answer a fool lest he think he is wise.” Much has been said in the press and social media to demolish tantrums. But I owe myself a duty to myself and set the record straight for posterity on the great lie that Bola Tinubu built my house in Lekki for me. So I deny the LIE propagated by Akande, I want to categorically state that my house in Lekki was built with my resources through the sale of 3 developed properties, a loan from GTBank and the sale of an undeveloped land property to me. was given by my late leader Chief Obafemi Awolowo with blessed memory.

The details are as follows:

A 4 bedroom duplex with 2 bedroom apartment walled with 2 undeveloped land at plot 4, block 14 Nuru Oniwo street, Aguda Surulere, Lagos state, this is where I lived before I moved to Lekki. The house was commissioned in 1972 by chef Obafemi Awolowo.

One wing of the duplex was once occupied by security personnel then known as the “Special Branch” then headed by the late Alhaji MD Yussuf who later became Inspector General of Police when General Olusegun Obasanjo was the head of the State. It was then occupied by one of the wives of Chief Pius Akinyelure, who often visited his wife there in the company of Senator Bola Tinubu.

The gate to this property was forced open by Abacha security forces when NADECO was having a farewell party for US Ambassador Walter Carrington at my house. today by the federal government, Mr. Olisa Agbakoba SAN, was my counsel.

The house was sold to St Baths Aglican Church, Aguda, Surulere.

Two storey building at Odedola Street, Surulere, Lagos State. I bought it through an estate agent by the name of Mr Shiwoniku who moved to UK he has a brother who is a lawyer in Abuja.

The house was sold to a Ghanaian named Mr. Akappo. He is still alive and he lives in one of the apartments in the building.

Four-storey building with a warehouse on the ground floor and six apartments at the top. It was commissioned by Chief Awolowo in 1977.

I inherited the 45’X100 ‘land from my mother Salamotu Anomo-Adebanjo, who built a bungalow there.

She bought the land when I was in primary school in 1940 from a Pa. Idowu Onitiri for £ 20, which she paid in installments of £ 10, £ 7, £ 3. His son Akanbi Onitiri executed the transfer for me without additional payment after showing him the purchase receipts from his father, when I developed him in 1976. Akanbi Onitiri is the father of Sumbo Onitiri, a well-known surveyor in Lagos .

The building was sold to a woman through a real estate agent.

I then took out a loan from GTBank to finish the house in Lekki where I currently live.

When the interest on the loan became unbearable, I was forced to sell the undeveloped land given to me by Chief Awolowo in the Dide-Olu Estate on Maroko Victoria Island. A certain Mr. Ade Otusanya, a friend of my son Femi Ayo-Adebanjo, bought the land.

The contractor who built my Lekki house is Engr. Hakeem Sulaiman, senior partner of MM. HA associates.

The electrical and mechanical contractor is the engineer. Tokunbo Oshokoya, principal partner of MM. Oshea Projects.

The architect is Mr. Deji Johnson

The quantity surveyor is the late Otunba TB Adebayo.

The Lekki property, my village house, Isanya Ogbo which I built 40 years ago, and the 3 bedroom apartment in a townhouse on Omorinre street in Lekki are the properties I have in the world whole.

I hereby authorize the EFCC to verify the above facts.

It is alleged that Chief Bisi Akande’s building in Ila-Orogun, which I believe is more than double the area of my house in Lekki and some other properties he owns in Lagos and abroad have been funded by Bola Tinubu. His house in Ibadan was also said to have been built by the contractor who built the secretariat in Oshogbo, when he was governor of Osun State.

I hereby challenge Chief Bisi Akande to purify the air by revealing the funding source for these properties as I have done above.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the great philanthropist should also unveil the source of his fortune with which he financed the APC elections in the South West and that of General Muhammad Buhari and his various properties in Lagos. It should also allow the EFCC to verify these details like I did above.

Thank you very much. God bless Nigeria
