If you’ve paid attention to the Miami Dolphins over the past couple of years, you understand how polarizing the quarterback’s play has been.
Fans, members of the media and analysts have all been back and forth regarding Tua Tagovailoa’s ability. There are those who think Tagovailoa can be a winning quarterback in this league and those who think he’s already shown he can’t.
For the Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki, he’s sick of people turning around from side to side.
“Yeah, I mean, obviously you hear it,” Gesicki said during his press briefing on Wednesday. “I watch SportsCenter every day. You see it. You hear it. It’s not serious. It’s like that. That’s how sports fans are and the people who talk about it. The frustrating thing is probably not the right word, but it’s the people who are negative then positive, then negative then positive… just pick one side.
In two years, Tagovailoa threw for 3,759 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 67.4% of his passes for a 91.5 passer rating. Many believe that wins aren’t a stat that should be attributed to a quarterback, but just for reference, the team are 10-7 in their 17 starts.
As far as Gesicki’s comments go, that makes sense. It must be boring to see people move the goalposts on their quarterbacks, but it’s also fair to change your mind if there is new evidence to point in one direction or the other as long as it is recognized that there is a change.
