In a now deleted tweet from the official STALKER game account, GSC explained their decision to include NFTs and asked fans to “hear us and understand our reasons.” It’s unclear why GSC deleted the tweet shortly after it was posted Thursday afternoon US time, but overall community sentiment appears to be negative, or half-hearted at best.
Here is a screenshot of the now deleted statement.
All funds GSC makes from the sale of NFT will go towards game development costs, GSC said.
“Why did we choose NFT? The statement reads. “This is new technology and we look forward to doing the NFT properly, giving some fans the ability to step into the game without interfering with the experience of other players. This is why the tokens are completely optional and have no impact on gameplay or story (no weapons, quests, locations, etc.) and can only be activated before the game is released [date]. “

The winning bidder will also be able to sell their prize token to someone else. ‘he wishes.
Other NFT GSC plans to include: nicknames / player names on game objects or architecture, gloves, tattoos, skins and badges for multiplayer, and collectible cards. GSC is partnering with the NFT “DMerket” marketplace to facilitate auctions and collectible cards.
GSC added that its decision to partner with DMarket was influenced by a desire to minimize blockchain CO2 emissions and other harmful effects.
In short: GSC still appears to be implementing NFTs in STALKER 2 when it launches in April 2022.
Ubisoft Quartz – How the blockchain-based NFT system works
NFTs quickly became a divisive and frequently derided in the world of video games and tech. Big studios and companies like Ubisoft and Fable creator Peter Molyneux are implementing NFTs in their respective games, including simple cosmetics and more elaborate purchases.
“Hey brother, you don’t need NFT or blockchain to pre-sell unique custom items in your game,” tweeted Randy Pitchford, Founder and CEO of Gearbox. “I’m not into that sort of thing because it’s a bit shitty version of ad placement. But it’s been done for years and you don’t need NFT to do it. ‘Either way, I love your job! “
Meanwhile, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has made nasty comments for the implementation of blockchain and NFT, calling it “more exploitative than entertainment.”
