Fossil fuels are not responsible for global climate problems

As a 35-year-old geologist, listening to climate alarmists is very disturbing.

We know that carbon dioxide has increased somewhat over the past century, but it is not entirely due to fossil fuels and certainly not at alarming levels.

We know that weather-related deaths have declined dramatically over the past century (mostly due to efficient fossil fuels that have provided the amazing machinery and technology that keep us safe).

We know there is some warming and some impact, but not catastrophic as we are led to believe. We know that Earth’s climate is cyclical in nature and has warmed and cooled repeatedly long before humans had any influence.

The climate is not a pristine entity that humans make dangerous, but rather the climate is a naturally dangerous entity from which humans must be protected.

The United Nations and the IPPC claim that there has been a crisis for at least four decades, but they are all wrong.

These organizations have twisted the work of many good scientists to tout a political and quasi-religious message. This distortion is derived from a biased selection of worst-case scenarios from over 40 climate models that have been shown to be consistently inaccurate. They totally ignore the immense positive benefits of low cost, reliable, global energy from fossil fuels.

To ignore completely how natural resources lifted billions of people out of poverty and provided humans with the ability to thrive is foolish.

I am not opposed to using alternative energy sources as supplements, but promoting a large-scale transition to unreliable and less efficient energy completely ignores the detrimental impact on human development.

The high energy density of the physico-chemistry of hydrocarbons is unique and well understood, as is the science behind the inherent low energy density of surface sunlight, volumes and wind speed.

Scientists have yet to find out and entrepreneurs have yet to invent anything as remarkable as hydrocarbons in terms of the combination of low cost, high energy density, stability, security and portability.

We are not in a crisis, and we must be able to take into account the negative AND positive impacts of energy consumption.
