“Allegations of Financial Embezzlement” in St. Louis Spurred Movement, Says Carpenters President | Law and order

The Chicago branch is now known as the Mid-America Regional Carpenters Council.

According to McCarron’s statement, the national office “recently” received an anonymous complaint from a “suspected former employee” of St. Louis Council. Additionally, a St. Louis Council employee approached Mike Kwiatkowski, an international representative of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, “with information regarding concerns regarding the operations of the St. Louis Council.”

“Three UBC officials (Daniel Sivertson, Mike Kwiatkowski and Anthony Pena) have been tasked with reviewing allegations of St. Louis Council operations, including allegations of financial malfeasance,” McCarron’s statement said.

On September 22, McCarron said he issued a directive so that Terrence Mooney, an accountant in the Atlantic City, New Jersey area, “may take possession of the St. Louis Council records for a review,” according to the criminal record.

“Pena, Kwiatkowski and Sivertson have released preliminary findings,” the McCarron file says. “Sir. Mooney’s company has also provided information to UBC officials on its initial findings. Investigations remain ongoing.”

After discussing the issue with Mark McGriff, a union vice president in the Midwest, McCarron wrote “it became evident that St. Louis Council was not functioning properly and in the best interests of the membership.”
