As PRC talks stall, staff unions allege delaying tactics

Vijayawada: Talks between state government employee associations and finance ministry officials on Thursday did not result in any breakthrough. Officials from the finance department, including Chief Human Resources Secretary Sasibushan Kumar and Secretary KVV Satyanarayana held a joint staff council meeting at the secretariat here. The officials held talks with the association of employees in three niches with three different groups. The employee associations explained their position on the assembly, the salary review board and control allowances.

Speaking on the occasion, Sasibushan Kumar said the state government is committed to finalizing the PRC issue as soon as possible. He said the government was considering announcing a package to benefit employees because it was already providing interim relief of 27%. The views of employee associations will be brought to the attention of the chief minister, he added.

Officers of the employees’ association later told media that the state government had dodged the key PRC issue and

accused him of dragging the issue out in the name of discussions with finance ministry officials.

Such meetings are of no use, said PA JAC chairman Bandi Srinivasulu and Amaravati JAC chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu. They said there had been no progress on the issue of adjustment so far.

Employee leaders expressed anger at the delay in finalizing the equipment and the PRC. They said officials had promised to settle the matter before the chief minister within a week, but so far no action has been taken in this direction. “Under these circumstances, we have no alternative but to move forward with our Agitation Plan of Action,” the leaders said.
