The state government of Ondo on Monday challenged the state’s opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to prove all the allegations against the state’s governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, and his immediate family.
This is exactly how the state government has promised not to downsize its workforce despite the economic challenges facing the state and the country.
The state government, in a statement signed by the State Information and Guidance Commissioner Donald Ojogo, called on the PDP to provide evidence to support its claims and forward it to the Commission on economic and financial crime (EFCC).
Ojogo, who accused the opposition party of feeding the public with false information, described the PDP’s measures as an attempt to smear the image of the current state administration, the governor and his family .
Ojogo, however, challenged the PDP to release details of companies allegedly owned by family member Akeredolu and report to the anti-corruption agency, EFCC.
He said, “We challenge PDP to publish the names of the directors of these companies as well as the names of these companies.
“This response to the latest PDP misadventure taken for opposition is not to glorify the rudderless camp; it is to advise the seemingly disorganized people and for the good of the general public at the mercy of PDP’s spurious disinformation.
“Their claims about 13 businesses that they claimed were registered by the governor’s family in 2017 without evidence expose the juveline and pedestrian coolness of the PDP. It is a pure waste of valuable media space to assert without proof to prove.
“Of the alleged expenditure of N 500,000,000 by the Ondo State Ministry of Information on the countdown to 2022, this is not only laughable but presents the PDP as the least serious.
“The inconsistency in their lies is legendary because their first outing indicated 200,000,000 N for the same subject.
“The public deserves to know more. Therefore, PDP should hurry to report this to the EFCC for investigation.
“While it is clear that the insidious PDP nude dancing manifests the height of idleness and political depression, the party’s persistence in displaying an eerie posture on the path of unbelievable lies begs the question as to whether the PDP is respecting or not the public of Ondo State at all. No serious public takes such discussions in beer halls seriously.
Meanwhile, Ojogo maintained that the state government will not lay off or downsize despite the economic challenges facing the state and the country.
Ojogo, while giving the profile analysis of the state’s monthly spending, said that the state government increased the federal government’s allocation deficit.
He said state government officials and unions meet monthly to decide how to pay, saying the government has been able to meet its financial obligations to workers largely due to its fiscal discipline. and its unwavering commitment to the well-being of workers.
According to him, the monthly allowance has been below 2.4 billion naira in the past three months, with VAT ranging between 1.8 billion naira and 1.9 billion naira, while the exchange of minerals was about 1.7 billion naira.
He explained that internally generated income (IGR) had fallen sharply since the COVID-19 era in 2020 while mandatory deductions from loans from previous administrations are paid when due, claiming “for example, we have just paid the last obligation of the administration Five months ago. “
Giving the analysis, he said that the central civil service received 1.6 billion naira, Tescom 1.3 billion naira, the state pension 950 million naira, the judiciary 170 million naira and the state newspaper Hope Newspaper receives 10 million naira as a grant.
He said: “The grant to the four higher education institutions in the state is 520 million naira, the university hospital is 170 million naira, the ad hoc staff 35 million naira while the state pays 200 million naira. million naira for gratuity and 250 million naira for OSOPADEC and 193 million naira for holidays “.
The statutory directors of the ministry should not be more than six, given the number of departments; but there are 220 directors on a monthly salary of at least N250,000.
“Local government staff gobble up N1.3b, SUBEB N700m, while the local government pension is around N980m, and the monthly salary of political office holders is less than N100m.”
He said, however, that we will instead develop ingenious ways to weather the storm than to fire state workers, we will not fire local government staff or any other state workers.
