A passenger from the Southwest claims the airline is at fault after his dog was unable to breathe in his carrier and suffered a tragic death on a flight.

The 3-year-old French Bulldog, named Charlie, was a comfort pet and fare-paying passenger who flew in a dog carrier on an SW flight last month to Pennsylvania.

Charlie’s partner, Courtney, tells us the dog started to have breathing problems on a connecting flight from their trip on December 21. She claims that when she tried to open the aircraft carrier or get Charlie out, a flight attendant refused to allow her and threatened to turn around or else Courtney would face further consequences.

Courtney says it was “brutal” and claims Charlie was otherwise healthy. She believes he overheated and suffered heatstroke and convulsions from the temperature on his first flight – although we’re told an autopsy hasn’t been performed to confirm this .

She claims that she asked an attendant on that first flight to turn up the air conditioning to cool Charlie. During the connecting flight, she claims to have tried to explain that he would die if he continued to have trouble breathing… but was not allowed to help her as he moaned to breathe.

As a result, she alleges that Southwest staff “let her die”. Courtney is a radiology technician who says she traveled to the United States to help Covid patients, and Charlie was her support animal.

Courtney’s attorney Evan Oshan told TMZ his client was only offered a ticket refund, but now wants to sue for Charlie’s loss and the pain and suffering . She also wants the flight attendant fired.

A Southwest spokesperson tells us … “We are disheartened to learn of the death of this client’s pet and have been in contact with her to find out more. Tens of thousands of customers travel with cats and dogs every month on Southwest. the plane, animals should remain in their well ventilated carriers at all times for the comfort and safety of other customers. “
