United Media has responded to attacks by Serbian authorities by claiming to have paid 100 million euros in taxes over the past two years and is one of the biggest contributors to the country’s budget.

In a statement released by N1 TV, which like United Media is part of United Group, he added: “United Media was unpleasantly surprised by the reaction of some representatives of the executive and legislative authorities who, commenting on the fact that Dragan Solak has become the owner of (Premier League club) Southampton, has told many untruths about the business of the company, one of the country’s biggest foreign investors ”.

He continued: “The government, led by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, immediately after releasing the information that the founder of the United group owned 80% of the Premier League club, launched a shameful campaign against him and the company. , deceiving the public by presenting a series of erroneous information ”.

The statement also states that “United Group members have invested 850 million euros in Serbia over the past 10 years, making the company one of the largest foreign investors.

“Despite this, our companies are continuously the target of attacks by the Serbian government, which tries by all means to stop the development of the operators and to shut down the independent media”.

United Media also said that instead of talking about our business, government officials can publicly explain why up to 600 million euros from Serbian citizens (money) were given to (Telekom Srbija) to purchase the rights to Premier League transmission at a price. several times higher than the most developed countries of the world.

“Also, when they talk about breaking the law, let us remind them that the legal obligation for the state is to leave media ownership and not to open new channels, and that the state must be the guarantor. media freedoms. In addition, the state should ensure equal treatment to all foreign investors, and not expel the bulk of the country, deeming them unsuitable, while on the other hand, it consciously “skips” certain violations of basic human rights. “.
