Anushka Sharma returns to the cinema after four years with her next film Chakda Xpress. Based on the life of former Indian cricket captain Jhulan Goswami, the Netflix film will tell the story of the women’s team underdog, with Anushka donning a retro jersey.

An announcement video for the film was released on Thursday that showed a brief look at Anushka’s performance as Jhulan. While some fans were delighted to see her on camera after four years, her Bengali accent and tanned face drew some criticism.

Actor-director Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter and wrote, “Great stuff… can’t wait. All the best @AnushkaSharma and the #ChakdaXpress team. Taapsee Pannu, who will play Jhulan Mithali Raj’s teammate in an unrelated movie, took to Instagram Stories and wrote, “From Mithali to Jhulan! Go on my sister. She added: “The hour of women in blue. Go ahead Chakda Express! ”

One fan quoted the phrase: “If cricket is a religion, why are men the only gods? and added: “#ChakdaXpress Just saw the trailer and this line did me. Well done to whoever invented it. @AnushkaSharma @NetflixIndia Wtf this hit it hard.

Another fan wrote: “Finally she’s backkkkkk !!!! Screaming for joy. Dear anushka mam, You are worth the wait. #AnushkaSharma #ChakdaXpress.”

As soon as the video came out, many criticized Anushka’s casting, noting that she looks nothing like Jhulan. Anushka’s tanned face and Bengali accent drew a lot of criticism.

One Twitter user wrote: “I love Anushka but Konkona would have been perfect for Jhulan Goswami’s #ChakdaXpress biopic.” Another wrote: “Why couldn’t a dark actress be chosen to play JhulanGoswami in #ChakdaXpress? Why take an extremely light slim actress and make her so tanned? Beyond me. “

Aamir Khan gained 22 kg, learned wrestling and Haryanvi for Dangal, while Anushka Sharma to star in the biopic of legendary cricketer Jhulan Goswami #ChakdaXpress, woke up and went to shoot the movie, Massive respect for her.

Anushka said in a previous statement, “At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the world stage, it was very difficult for women to even think about playing the sport. This film is a dramatic account of several cases that shaped her life and also women’s cricket. “
