CLOQUET, MN. (CBS 3 DULUTH) – Families of children they believe are being abused are demanding action and responses from Carlton County authorities.

Child abuse allegations (KBJR)

Family members of children in the care of two foster homes gathered outside the Carlton County Courthouse on Tuesday.

They say two women care for 10 indigenous children and subject them to psychological and physical abuse.

Photos and videos posted to Facebook back up their claims, as do accounts of other former foster children raised by the two women.

Families say around 20 former victims have come forward.

Despite the evidence, children remain in the homes.

Families say they will not stop fighting for their safety.

“Every child matters and the children who live in this home right now, they matter to us, they matter to their community, and whatever their parents’ past mistakes are, they matter to parents,” said Taysha Martineau, aunt of some of the foster children.

Families want the Fond du Lac Band, Cloquet Police, the Carlton County District Attorney and Carlton County Social Services to remove the children from the home.

Cloquet police released a statement, saying they were investigating and following protocols to keep children safe.

They say they are working with the Carlton Band and County authorities.

CBS 3 does not appoint the women who run the foster homes because they have not been charged.
