Magnolia Network’s Home Work hosts Andy and Candis Meredith have responded to recent allegations of “poor quality work” from disgruntled customers.
Last week, two homeowners accused Utah-based renovators of shoddy work and overcharging. It was also alleged that the Merediths had poor communications with their customers during their transactions. This led the Magnolia Network, the vehicle run by Fixer stars Upper Chip and Joanna Gaines, to pull Home Work from the program just two days after its launch.
The Merediths have now responded to the allegations. Using their shared Instagram account, the couple posted photos of their work on the house to the complaints center. They also shared a multi-part video addressing the charges and sharing their side of the story.
“We are very proud of the work that has gone into this project,” said a post. “We revealed this space on February 20, 2020 and fully acknowledge that prior to that time there had been some difficult conversations and misunderstandings about this project and this budget, but we absolutely felt like we solved these problems together. ”
The publication also claims that after the project’s budget was exceeded, the Merediths paid around $ 32,000 out of their own pockets. Additionally, the statement acknowledges the issues with the subcontractors, but clarifies that it was not in their hands. “We absolutely couldn’t control the other people and contractors involved in these projects as much as we wanted,” the post read.
In the accompanying messages, the couple say their children are harassed at school and the family has received death threats. “Our house is under police surveillance for our safety, and these comments and judgments against us stating that we are liars, thieves and crooks are extremely hurtful and based on a story amplified by others who were not part of it. ‘none of these situations. .
“We fully admit that we took too much at the same time and that it has been a difficult road for these 4 customer renovation projects,” the posts concluded. “We also recognize that after working in an extremely difficult industry for over 10 years, working with hundreds of people, there will inevitably be some unhappy ones. Aubrys’ public call for anything and everything that people can share about us is not ok. We have the same phone numbers, and anyone we’ve worked with can contact us at any time. “
