The Dallas Cowboys lost on Sunday. Losing just six times since September sounds like a deal we would buy into, but knowing it would all end in a loss is a bitter pill to swallow. This season was supposed to be different for the Cowboys – sometimes it was different – but it all ended the same way it always did for the better part of three decades.
Perhaps most frustrating about Dallas’ failure, once again, to deliver in the playoffs is that, unlike in previous years, they can’t even live with it. themselves.
Sunday night, Dak Prescott took to the podium after a Cowboys game like many times before, but in this case QB1 approached things very differently.
Asked about the state of the game, Prescott chose to partly blame the officials. Seriously.
To be clear, the Cowboys committed 14 penalties. San Francisco has lost great players like Nick Bosa and Fred Warner. Despite all of Dallas’ shortcomings, they still had the ball late in the game with a chance to take the lead with a touchdown and return the ball on the downs. Complaining about officiating and acting like that’s why the Cowboys lost is not in the face of reality.
Of course, there’s a lot of talk about the final play of the game when Prescott tried to steal the ball after executing a quarterback toss with little time left and no clock stoppages. For what it’s worth, Prescott said the team had practiced many times and was ready to trust their training.
Dak Prescott: “I made the call knowing we’re going to get yards, go down and time it. It’s something we’ve practiced time and time again. When I got behind Tyler, I saw that was left: 04…then I got hit from behind He says he still thought they could have gotten busted.

If the Cowboys really practiced this game and trained for it, then how weren’t they aware that the ball had to be given to the official to place it and not to Tyler Biadasz? It sounds like an apology from the Cowboys and as if they were trying to blame the referees for their loss rather than their own mistakes.
Obviously, the officials aren’t perfect, but the Cowboys were at fault Sunday and hardly any kind of victim. Fans were unhappy with the way the game ended and opted to throw debris at the officials as they ran off the pitch, which was an ugly thing to see. Prescott was asked about the flying debris and mistakenly thought fans were throwing objects at players. When corrected saying things were being thrown at the officials, he said “credit to them” when talking about the fans throwing.
Since being drafted by the Cowboys in 2016, we’ve seen Dak only say and do the right thing as long as he’s in the public space. For him to openly approve of fans throwing debris at officials because they didn’t like the calls they made is poor judgment by Prescott. Losing sucks and will always put people in a bad mood, but as the leader of the organization, Dak has to be better than that.
Sunday was really disappointing as the Cowboys completely fell apart as a football team. Seeing them pointing fingers and blaming the officer afterwards only solidified some of our worst fears in that they don’t believe they are truly wrong.
It’s a big problem.
