Naeun Not Part Of Apink’s Return After 2 Years, Fans Blame YG

Fans around the world were left devastated when Son Naeun revealed that she would not be renewing her contract with Play M, the label of her group Apink. However, she had promised fans that she would always be part of the group. But after joining her new label YG Entertainment, it seems like she’s been sidelined from a lot of group activities. She was also absent from band member Bomi’s birthday celebrations in August 2021. However, we had something of a mini-reunion when she was included in the band’s video celebrating Chuseok.

It looked like 2022 would improve with all six members taking part in Apink’s comebacks and promotions. Also, with Play M merging with Cre.ker to form the new agency – IST Entertainment, fans believed that the days of OT5 content would be over. At the end of December, it was revealed that Apink was planning a comeback with all the members, meaning even Naeun would be in attendance. It would be their first comeback in nearly 2 years since releasing their last album in April 2020.

Naeun will skip most comeback promotions

The girls’ new label IST Entertainment assured fans that Naeun will be part of the upcoming album and that she is also working on it along with the rest of the Apink members. But on January 17, fans received disappointing news. It looks like Naeun won’t be a full part of the comeback. The label shared that to accommodate all six members in the release of the album, especially as it is their 10th anniversary, they tried to adjust everyone’s schedules. Unfortunately, due to a sudden change, Naeun could only attend for the album cover photoshoot and music video shoot. For the rest of the promotional activities, she will not be present.

After the overwhelming and disappointed response from fans, YG Entertainment released a statement. They shared that Naeun had conflicting schedules due to the next project she was planning to take on and was in discussion. The idol signed with YG as an actress and renewed her acting career as seen with the ongoing K-drama “Ghost Doctor.” Well, due to scheduling issues, she won’t be able to participate in all of the planned promotional activities. However, “she asks fans to send their biggest cheers to the members.”

“She misses playing with Apink”

Some upset fans tweeted like, “Apink is only promoting for a week anyway. YG, you could have been a little understanding” and “I knew they were going to hold her hostage. Another fan added, “How do you explain this?!? she misses playing with apink and you just took that chance on her. One Panda shared, “Never doubt the love and affection that she has for Apink and her fans, she’s always been so proud for the band and i’m so sad and upset that she has to go through so much for something she can’t really control. I love you @Apinksne and will always be by your side. Another fan was angry, “Yg mf didn’t let naeun join apink activities for this bcs comeback from a drama/project which is currently ON TALK???????” One joked, “Apink is distracting yg building security so naeun can sneak back in.”
