Overwatch 2 delay reasons

Before Microsoft agreed to acquire Activision, the latter company’s stock price had fallen rapidly. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick had blamed this on Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV delays. However, Overwatch 2 producer Tracy Kennedy reversed the situation and blamed the game’s delays and glitches on Kotick himself.

Why is Bobby Kotick responsible for the Overwatch 2 issues?

Apparently, Kotick would randomly “push” projects for the original Overwatch game onto the dev team, according to a Tweet from Kennedy spotted by GamesRadar. These projects would then be developed using overtime, only to be canceled a few months later. This would mean that months of development time on Overwatch 2 had been lost in the meantime. Kennedy also mentioned the large number of employees leaving Activision Studios, sometimes “nearly entire teams”, and how they cite Kotick as the reason for this.

Oh wait it’s true you’re hiding behind scapegoats because you’re a coward, my mistake. The whole world will remember you as a foodie joke, and there’s nothing you can do to change that. We survived you and we won. Goodbye 👋

Overwatch 2 suffered a number of issues, with development taking longer than expected. The game was recently delayed to give the team more time to set up content and post-launch support. The California lawsuit against Activision Blizzard that alleged a toxic and abusive culture also led to high employee turnover and new people joining the team. Many top developers left the company, including director Jeff Kaplan and executive producer Chacko Sonny.

On the other hand, Blizzard has previously claimed that the development of Overwatch 2 has slowed Overwatch support. Whatever the reason, Overwatch 2 isn’t expected to release until 2023 at the earliest.

In other news, the original Assassin’s Creed trilogy was supposed to end in space after its modern story ended, but plans changed along the way. Elsewhere, players who purchase Dying Light 2 on PlayStation 4 will be able to enjoy a free PS5 upgrade.
