SHREWSBURY, NJ — The East Coast Hockey League suspended Jackson Icemen defenseman Jacob Panetta indefinitely on Sunday following an incident involving Carolina Stingrays defenseman Jordan Subban.

The league announced the suspension is pending a collective bargaining agreement hearing for Panetta’s actions Saturday in Jacksonville’s 1-0 overtime win.

During the extra session, Subban, who is black, attempted to engage Panetta, who allegedly responded with a racial taunt.

Subban’s older brother, PK, a New Jersey Devils defenseman, shared a video of Panetta’s alleged taunt and called the ECHL.

The Icemen said they were cooperating with the league’s review of the incident.
