New Delhi:

Akhilesh Yadav today defended his comment that China is the real enemy while Pakistan is only the “political enemy” targeted by the BJP for the votes and referred to General Bipin Rawat, the leader of of the Defense Staff, who died in a helicopter crash on December 8.

“I said the same thing about Pakistan that General Bipin Rawat used to say. He said China was our biggest enemy. May I not quote Bipin Rawat?” Party leader Samajwadi told NDTV in an interview, responding to harsh criticism from the BJP over his recent comments.

In an interview with Economic Times, Akhilesh Yadav said: “Our real enemy is China. Pakistan is our political enemy. But the BJP only targets Pakistan because of its electoral politics. we have members on 24 assembly seats in PoK? The then interior minister said we would reach Aksai Chin. We now hear what is happening in Galwan. They encroach on our lands, encroach on our businesses. The Indian government should reflect on this and consult with opposition parties on how to handle the situation. »

General Rawat said in November that he viewed China, not Pakistan, as “India’s greatest enemy”.

“We shouldn’t be under any pressure from the psychological games China is playing. That’s what they want. China is our biggest enemy today, not Pakistan,” General Rawat said, adding that he there was “undoubtedly” the threat on the northern borders was much greater.

On Akhilesh Yadav’s comment, the BJP said party leader Samajwadi had made his preference “obvious” in his choice of candidates.

“I want to say to Akhilesh Ji, who talks about Jinnah and Pakistan, that if Yakoob Menon had been alive today, the Samajwadi party would have also given him a ticket,” Mr Patra had said, referring to the Bombay bombing of 1993 accused who was executed in 2015.

Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven phases starting February 10. The results will be announced on March 10.
