Nikola Mirotic defends Griezmann: ‘I could get some criticism but that’s what I think’ /News

Nikola Mirotic is an avid follower of Barca football and he loved watching Antoine Griezmann play for FC Barcelona, through Gerard Romero and Mundo Deportivo.

Griezmann has a great relationship with Mirotic. They both landed in Barcelona in the same year, 2019, and got along pretty well. At Barca, they shared the same communication manager and spent quite a bit of time together.

However, the French football star’s career shifted to Madrid on August 31, 2021. Griezmann returned to Atletico Madrid on a one-year loan, where he played from 2014 to 2019.

His departure was certainly widely lamented, except as an expression of the gravity crisis at Camp Nou. Barcelona president Joan Laporta said in early September that Griezmann was ‘not the player we needed’.

In Gerard Romero’s latest interview, Nikola Mirotic expressed support for his friend and unconditional basketball fan among former FC Barcelona players.

According to the 30-year-old basketball player, he believes Griezmann left his mark on Barca football team and would continue to deliver today.

“Antoine, for some reason, couldn’t give his best here. He’s a great professional, however, not everything went the way he wanted or the way the fans wanted, but we wish the best to Antoine.

In my opinion right now he would be a perfect fit for the team with Xavi and we would have enjoyed his game a lot because we are short on goals and he can score some. I could get some criticism, but that’s what I think,” Mirotic said.
