Maryland basketball draws harsh criticism with disappointing loss to Indiana

If Maryland was going to start climbing up the Big Ten standings, it needed to start with a win over Indiana. Instead, the Terrapins came out flat and got throughly outplayed by Indiana in a 68-55 loss at home.

Maryland jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but things unraveled from there. The Hoosiers were able to hold the Terrapins to shooting just 28.6% from the field and 22.2% from behind the 3-point line. The only area in which the Terrapins didn’t get beaten was at the free throw line.

Perhaps the most concerning thing about the Terrapins’ performance was some of the mental errors in the second half. Key turnovers cost Maryland any chance it had to scratch and claw its way back into the game. Ultimately, it was a deflating performance for a team in need of a quality win.
