Kirstie Allsopp has apparently quit Twitter after telling her critics to stop watching her TV shows ‘if you don’t like me’.

The real estate show presenter was responding to criticism in an interview in which she said young people could afford to buy a house if they made more sacrifices.

“When I bought my first property, going abroad, [and] the easyJet, cafe, gym, Netflix lifestyle didn’t exist,’ she told the Sunday Times, explaining that she bought her first house aged 21 with the help of her family.

“I don’t want to put people down who can’t do it,” she added. “But there are loads of people who can do it and who don’t. It’s difficult.”

Allsopp has come under fire on Twitter, with many pointing out that it must have been easier for her given that her father is Charles Henry Allsopp, 6th Baron Hindlip.

On Monday, February 7, Allsopp responded to the criticism on Twitter, writing, “Anyone who thinks I’ve spent the last 22 years pretending to understand the needs of UK buyers must really consider me a very good actress. If you don’t like the shows, don’t watch them.

“But I don’t care what the press or social media think of me, life is too short.”

She added, “If you don’t like me, tell @Channel4, even if the best way to end me is not to watch the shows.”

Allsopp, setting a mission for his detractors, then said: “We are filming the Christmas show on Friday, maybe by the time it comes out in December it will have 0 viewers. You have 9 months to achieve this. On your marks, ready? Go….”

Allsopp then updated his Twitter bio to read, “Twitter off once and for all. Determined not to fall off the wagon. Keep an account here to stop the copycat fools. INFO tweets don’t mean I’m back.

The Rent, Rent, Rent presenter bought her first property when the average house price in the UK was around £51,000.

“Before, I walked to work with a sandwich. And on payday, I was going to eat pizza, go to the movies and buy lipstick. Interest rates were 15%, I was making £11,500 a year,” she said, adding that “the young homebuyer’s financial losses” had delayed the process.

She also told people to “think about what your degree gets you”, asking, “Could you get a job at 18, stay home with [your] parents for three years, and saving every penny, enough for a deposit? »
