Harry Maguire’s blame game during matches has left his Manchester United team-mates livid with him, it’s been claimed.

The England defender has struggled to find form in the Red Devils side since returning from Euro 2020 and his season is only getting worse off the pitch too.

It was suggested last month that he was in a power struggle with Cristiano Ronaldo and now this week reports have emerged that fellow squad members are unhappy with his continued selection.

Ralf Rangnick has stood by his captain but that hasn’t helped his cause, with his hypocritical comments upsetting a number of United stars.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who state his team-mates are unhappy with Maguire blaming them for making mistakes when he is so error-prone.

His post-match interviews are also said to be a source of annoyance for them.

As skipper, Maguire has often been sent out to face the music following a disappointing result this campaign.

United’s squad appear to be slowly turning on their skipper

He annoyed fans when he said “I’m here because I have to be here” after Liverpool had embarrassed United with a 5-0 win at Old Trafford.

And he claimed the team “lacked belief” near the end of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign.

The critical comments to the media are again seen as hypocritical when he has been to blame on several occasions.

While his position in the team appears secure until the end of the season, his future beyond then is in doubt.

Rangnick will be departing the dugout for the boardroom and the Mail report claims the club are planning to sign a world-class centre-back.

United have kept a close eye on the contract situation of Antonio Rudiger at Chelsea and are reportedly in talks to sign Ronald Araujo from Barcelona.
