Weston-super-Mare: ‘Racist’ Cowboys and Indians game removed

A vintage Cowboys and Indians game has been removed from a seaside towns arcade after a woman complained it was racist.

Emily Crossing, 30, spotted the game while on a family visit to the Grand Arcade in Weston-super-Mare in May.

The offensive game featured a saloon with cowboys and a gun for moving shooting Native American figures, while the player sits on a horse.

Emily, a social care worker from Oxford, decided to write to the pier bosses, saying the game was outdated and extremely racist.

She emailed them on May 29 and followed up a month later when she didnt hear back.

When the bosses did reply, they reportedly told her it was a legacy piece and had received no other complaints about it.

Its clearly racist. Its absolutely shocking, Emily said.

Mum and I both just had our mouths open when we first saw it we were in absolute shock.

The figures of indigenous Americans were in full-on headdresses and there are little cowboys everywhere.

I can’t believe the managers have no idea about cultural appropriation.

This is 2022 that game is racist whether you choose to play it or not. Its outdated and extremely shocking.

According to arcade bosses, the game has now been removed from the pier.

In a statement, a Grand Pier spokesperson said: That machine is no longer in our estate.
