She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Jameela Jamil says she respects the MCU fan base for speaking its mind over Titania’s appearance in the series.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Jameela Jamil said that she understood where Marvel Cinematic Universe fans were coming from in their criticisms of Titania’s design.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jamil addressed how she felt after people took to social media to criticize her character’s appearance, particularly her hair. “It was great,” the Good Place actor said. “It’s just a wig. I love the MCU. I love the Marvel fan base. I respect them, and I was merely making sure that they knew that I was with them. I was reassuring them. I’m on their side. And so I never mind any criticism or feedback.”

Jamil also remarked that she supported fans in fighting to make the changes they feel are necessary to improve the quality of the MCU. “As long as it isn’t done in a cruel or toxic way, I’m with the Marvel fan base when they push for more — I’m into it,” she said.

The She-Hulk star goes on to say that the negativity launched against Titania is not something that requires Disney’s attention. “I think Disney knew that they were signing a loose cannon into their universe,” she laughed. “But also, they trust me, and they know that I only come at anything from a place of love and respect for this fandom, for this universe. It was a really fun, funny exchange. It just wasn’t a big thing. “

Jamil plays the villainous Titania opposite Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters, serving as She-Hulk’s rival and an antagonist of the show. As such, the actor was put through a vigorous training regime to get her ready for the fights featured in the series. “For [Disney] to teach me jiu-jitsu and kickboxing and kung fu and how to fight in a harness in the sky — I tried to talk them out of it when they gave me the role,” she joked. “But I’ve run away from the auditions for years and had to be talked into giving this a chance. Because I love Marvel and respect Marvel so much, I was afraid of letting down the fan base. That’s my biggest fear.”

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law follows Jennifer Walters, who gains the ability to turn into a green giant, similar to her cousin Bruce Banner.
